Project Leaders

The leaders you will be working with in Tanzania are all hand-picked for their expertise and skill in their field.  Some will be logistics experts, some specialise in environmental issues and  others have expertise  in ecology.  Other essential qualities they all possess are the ability to “get the job done”; handle any situation calmly and with integrity; years of experience in developing countries and remote areas and, perhaps most importantly a well-developed sense of humour.

Whoever you work with on your project will be invaluable to you and teach you an immense amount of life skills that you will be able to take back and incorporate into your place of work.

Food/Water/Transport

Food and Water for the duration of the project

All main meals and water are included for the duration of the project.

Land transport in Tanzania

All transfers whilst in Tanzania on the project are included.

Any optional extensions such as climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, safari etc will be additional costs.

Accommodation

Accommodation for the Duration of the Project

Accommodation costs are based on tented accommodation for the duration of the project.  If you take this option you’ll be staying close-by the community to help you interact with and get to know the locals and there’ll be very little or no travelling to and from the project site. If your team would like hotel accommodation, we can make arrangements for this.  However there would be a an additional cost. Similarly for optional extensions to the trip such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Visas

Visas

Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality, so to be fair to everyone visa costs are not included.  To save any delay on arrival in Tanzania, you can buy your visa in advance from the Tanzanian Embassy in London for about £86.00.

Domestic Flights

Domestic Flights

As for the international flights, these cannot be included as the price can vary.  As at December 2006 they are $150.00 each way from Nairobi to Kili International Airport.

As teams are coming from all over the UK and Europe, we are not able to include transfers to and from the UK airport.

Flights

International Flights

Flight costs cannot be guaranteed until the flight is booked, so for this reason we have shown the cost separately.  Flight costs can vary between £420.00 to £600.00. Generally the further in advance we can book your flights the cheaper they will be.

Vaccinations and Jabs

Prophylaxis   (Jabs and Vaccinations)

No one likes jabs.  Some people hate them, some are genuinely phobic, some people are ambivalent - but no one likes them.  So, if you don’t like them you are not alone.  However, you have just got to have them.

We recommend the following vaccinations:-

Diphtheria; Tetanus; Poliomyelitis; Hepatitis A; Typhoid; Yellow Fever.


Vaccines sometimes advised:-

Tuberculosis; Meningococcal Meningitis; Hepatitis B; Rabies; Cholera.

Vaccinations - General

Vaccinations

The following vaccinations will be required however we recommend you consult with your GP for a definitive list. These must be administered at least 15 days before departure and are in addition to immunisations recommended for Britain.  You must make sure that all your UK vaccinations are up to date.  Vaccination certificates will need to be carried, in particular the Yellow Fever Certificate which is sometimes needed for entry into Tanzania.

We recommend you consult with your GP for the following vaccines which are sometimes recommended in particular circumstances:

Group bookings for some of these vaccinations may be able to be arranged through your local Group Practice or Travel Clinic. Many of these vaccines last for several years and therefore you could plan on getting immunised well in advance of departure.

Diseases - Other

Other diseases

Sleeping sickness (trypanosomiasis), Dengue Fever, Leishmaniasis and Filariasis, Hepatitis A, B, E and meningococcal meningitis all occur.
